I like the rugged and wild landscapes of the Southwest. Geology most definitely plays a factor in painting ideas: mountain ranges with alluvial fans, basin and range, prairie, juniper dotted hills are favorite subject choices. Roadways and waterways are common themes, and I like the sense of traveling or movement in a painting.
